The working principle of the common plunger injection pump involves three main stages:

Pumping process: As the cam lifts the plunger, the internal pressure increases. Once the pressure exceeds the outlet valve spring preload, the valve opens, and high-pressure diesel is pumped into the high-pressure oil pipe and sprayed into the engine cylinder.

Oil return process: As the plunger continues to rise, the fuel flows back to the low-pressure chamber through the internal channels, effectively ending the pumping stage.
